WHAT A DAY IN LEEDS FOR THE DIGITAL & OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE NETWORK EVENT

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s in person Digital & Operational Excellence network event at member organisation Medical Protection Society in Leeds.

It was a full and energising day packed with shared experiences, thought-provoking insights, and collaborative ideas. The feedback has been great — and it’s still coming in.

🏢 Medical Protection Society - Carole Botham, Lucy Thompson and Clare Slater gave us a powerful look into the pros and cons of “Rejuvenate or Create” — showcasing how an integrated workplace solution can drive meaningful stakeholder engagement. By giving everyone a voice and the opportunity to co-create, they tackled a complex issue: getting people back into the office. One colleague captured it perfectly - “They created advocacy at all levels.”

Alongside Nicole Green, we explored the theme of Human Centricity. In a world of automation and AI where do human factors fit in? We discussed how they contribute to business objectives and the growing need for personalised, self-service solutions.

💡 A standout comment: Human Centricity isn’t just about systems — it’s also about love and empathy, especially in shared services that support people in need or in vulnerable situations.

🔁 Rhenus Logistics - Jemma-Rose Swales and Ian Dixon delivered an inspiring case study on “Evolution, not Revolution,” showing how refining existing software and processes can yield real improvements in compliance and accuracy. The idea of “five-minute projects” really resonated — sometimes small changes are just as powerful as the big ones.

Some takeaways from the day:

Change management is essential for sustainable success.
✅A human-centric approach, combined with AI, leads to better outcomes.
✅ You don’t need a big budget—just a shift in mindset and time to tackle real problems.
✅ Psychological safety is key—leaders must ensure people feel heard and supported.
✅ People remain both the biggest challenge and greatest opportunity in managing change.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, contributed, and made the day what it was. See you all in June!
