We are delighted to announce and welcome our panelists for the panel discussion taking place on day 2 of the annual conference "The Secrets to Empower Your Workforce for Success". 

DAVID HERD, SSF UK DIRECTOR & DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS SERVICES AT AMEY

David has a long running association with the Shared Services Forum UK being one of the founding members stemming back to 2001 and remains an active & dedicated leader, proud to be part of its heritage in how it has evolved over the years into what it is today as a thriving pedigree of shared service organisations all sharing a common collaborative passion for sharing and knowledge exchange 

David’s day job is Director of Business Shared Services at Amey Ltd leading a talented team providing multi-functional support services for internal Business Units and Group operations. Services cover Customer Services, Finance Transactional Services, People Services and Business Reporting & MI. The business having recently aligned with new shareholders, the role is accountable for shared service strategy & delivering effective synergies aligned with enabling and supporting a business growth agenda.  

David is a FCCA qualified Finance Professional, having held various Director of Shared Services/GBS positions built upon a bed rock of Change Leadership with over two decades of experience enabling effective & best practice front to back-office functions & ERP implementations. Offers a wealth of insight & value acquired across a career in operational leadership, expertise in optimised organisation design strategies, functionally and operational, with an ability to execute on the creation of effective shared service centre operations and performance improvement. 

Previous positions include GBS Delivery Director, Head of Shared Services, Head of BPO, Finance Director and Consultant 

Member of APA Top Influencers Index 2020, 2021 & 2023.

LUBNAH ALAM, DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL OPERATIONS AT EG GROUP

Lubnah’s passion is to drive change through people, process and systems whilst challenging the status quo. Having a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion has made her a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

From working in multiple sectors (Public/Manufacturing/Telecoms/Housing/Construction/Education) and now Retail, she has gained the experience and skills to become an accomplished leader in the Shared Services space. This experience was enhanced recently, by completing an 11 month assignment in Karachi, Pakistan for Aga Khan University in setting up a Global HR Shared Services function.

Being a Qualified accountant and an ambitious people leader, with c15 years of experience of setting up and enabling Finance Shared Services, coupled with ERP implementations, her passion about Business Transformation (keeping it simple) and enabling a Growth Mind-set within teams, shines through, injecting some fun along the way too!

Lubnah has been married for 26 years this year, with a 18 (who she says is going on 25!) year old daughter, based in the North West.

GILLIAN BARTON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, GLOBAL COLLEAGUE SERVICES/HR TRANSFORMATION AT OTIS ELEVATOR WORLDWIDE

Gillian is married to Steven, and they have two children, George, and Harry. Gillian loves to travel, learning about cultures, meeting people, and hearing about their fascinating journeys in life.

Gillian leads Global Colleague Services at Otis Worldwide with accountability for the delivery of HR and Payroll Services for 69,000 colleagues, serving customers in more than 200 territories. Major delivery centers include India, Colombia, China, Poland, and Malaysia.

Gillian is an authentic, energetic, commercially astute, strategic leader, demonstrating a people focus & change engagement ethos. She has built and transformed global organizations, by leveraging her expert knowledge and inspiring teams, resulting in higher performance, colleague service, and revenue delivery.

Possessing a professional curiosity; she is a respected initiator of projects that pioneer to deliver results, ensuring creation and delivery of continuous development, thereby constantly engendering motivation in colleagues and suppliers in the call to action. She has success in a diverse portfolio of roles within various sectors.

Benefitting from a deep expertise in functional HR and Global Services; her extensive and diverse cultural experience provides insights of working with colleagues in a variety of social backgrounds, challenges faced in ‘startup’ and global environments, partnering at Board level and with multi-cultural leadership teams across remote geographies.

Gillian holds an Executive MBA from Lancaster University and BA (hons) Degree in Geography from The University of Manchester, is FCIPD and Prince 2 qualified. She volunteers on the Shared Services Outsourcing Network (SSON) Global Advisory Board and is Secretary of Catherine’s Crusaders Cancer Research Charit


LISA HOOLEY, SHARED SERVICES INDUSTRY LEADER & DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS SERVICES THE CO-OPERATIVE GROUP

Lisa has been involved in helping to shape Shared Services Forum UK since the beginning.  A visionary leader, Lisa takes a purposeful and positive-thinking approach to excellence. She is a genuine people-person and prides herself on being her authentic self with everyone she meets - living and breathing her personal mantra that communication is key and people will always make the difference. 

In her day job, Lisa is Director of Business Services for the Co-operative Group, where she is accountable for setting and driving the business services strategy to enable a sustainable, effective and customer centric way of doing business. She is leading this transformation and improved organisational performance through service mindset, leverage of end to end processes, enablement of digital ecosystem and driving optimisation, in order to help realise Co-op’s goals. 

Lisa’s prior roles include Programme Director for Synergy (a ~£3bn ERP & Shared Services Transformation across ~50% of the UK Civil Service), Vice President of Shared Services at SPXFLOW Corporation (leading from-scratch build of Global Business Services for the EMEA and Amercias) and Managing Director of TetraPak Business Services (leading design and build of EMEA Finance Shared Services and significant multi-functional transformation programmes).  She has also led her own Leadership and Change Advisory business in recent years, where she helped leaders to transform their business’s performance by enabling end to end operational excellence, growing high-performing teams and prioritising customer experience.   

Always purposeful and community-minded, Lisa is Chair of Trustee’s for a local charity, and a valued coach, mentor and advisor across her networks. 

NIGEL BRITTON, PARTNER AND HEAD OF SHARED SERVICE AT BDO LLP

Nigel is a Partner at accounting and advisory firm BDO and he heads up BDO’s Shared Service Centre which is based in Liverpool and Glasgow.

He joined BDO to set up their Centre from a standing start in late 2016 and it now delivers a multitude of services to the entire UK firm through 650 colleagues across 15 discipline areas. Nigel has recently been appointed as Chair of Liverpool BID (Business Improvement District) adding further to the community connectivity already developed through alliances with learning institutions and social mobility advocates in both cities.

Prior to the role at BDO, Nigel was instrumental in set-up and operation of a 500+ nearshore EMEA delivery centre for a global IT Outsourcer.  He has also undertaken roles in both Retail & Leisure and A&D sectors, following training as an accountant at KPMG.

Nigel is married to Caroline and they like to get away whenever possible in Kermit the campervan! Nigel is also a keen cyclist and occasional runner.
