We are delighted to announce that Matt McKeown, Deputy Director Strategy at Cabinet Office will be joining the SSF UK team as the Network Leader for our brand new Public Sector Network, launching in 2026.
Matt’s team is leading the Government’s drive to build five new shared service centres to cater for around 400 government bodies. He is a Deputy Director within the Cabinet Offices’ Shared Services for Government Strategy unit, and is responsible for setting strategy, portfolio management and technical integration and ERP implementation. He is a career Civil Servant having worked across a number of government departments and agencies mainly in technical or scientific areas delivering programme management and business transformation. He ran teams of scientists in the Forensic Science Service, overhauled statistical standards and legislation in the Office for National Statistics, led on the regeneration of deprived areas and set up public service mutual companies with local authorities, built offensive cyber capabilities and analysis in defence and intelligence agencies and environmental and rural affairs, during Covid, at the Welsh Government.
He has been working on shared services since 2021 when the current government strategy was launched. His Shared Services for Government team is responsible for directing the incredible transformation of corporate services across around 400 government organisations. The team is revolutionising back office of government by introducing shared services for around 550,000 Civil Servants, 230,000 military personnel and one million veterans. The work is cutting costs, increasing efficiency and productivity and embedding cloud technology and AI, evolving systems, processes, data standards, structures and ways of working across government. This is linking up the Civil Service expanding the use of AI and provides the potential for billions of pounds of savings for the tax payer in future years.
The Public Sector Network will provide a platform for topical discussion, best practice sharing, and peer-to-peer learning, tailored specifically to the challenges and opportunities within public service delivery. As with all SSF UK networks, members will be encouraged to contribute, collaborate, and shape the agendas too.
We look forward to launching this network in 2026 and to the conversations, connections, and innovations it will inspire.
If you are interested in getting involved or supporting the Public Sector Network, please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
