Today we held the last Leaders event for 2021 and it was great to see our leaders online and thank you everyone that attended.
We kicked off with an interactive session with Sabine McGuin and Ben Hartfield from The Hackett Group exploring the Workforce of the Future. The group discussed the topic of Leading a remote workforce and how is that effecting productivity and is it becoming harder/easier to lead a remote workforce?
Is it getting harder as we get more and more into this type of work? Are we yearning to get back to the office, or comfortable as things are? and are any of our leaders doing anything innovative or different in terms of tracking productivity. It was a great session hearing how some teams are back in the office, some are still working at home and some are trying to balance the needs of team v the individual v the organisation. The majority of member organisations are remaining flexible, creating flexible working spaces within the office, collaboration spaces and also offering more flexible working hours.
Working remotely for some teams also meant productivity has gone up and sickness has been much lower.
The group shared some of the challenges around remote working, in that businesses that have down sized their office footprint has marginally reduced the choice of having the whole team in from a collaboration perspective. Some simply cant work from home but have been allowed flexibility around working hours, patterns etc. There was a real feeling that GBS and SSCs are pioneering the modern ways of working.
There is more to come on this and we look forward another session with The Hackett Group early next year to discuss further.

For the second part of the event we welcomed Think Productive with their interactive workshop from Productivity Ninja Mathew Brown on how to be inspired, form new habits and create Change today. Matthew shared the 9 characteristics of the Productivity Ninja to improve focus and combat overwhelm, some productivity boosting ideas and helped us to identify specific changes and tactics to improve personal productivity and wellbeing and how to reflect, inspire and motivate our teams.
