Today, our SSF UK Procure to Pay Network came together in Derby for our first in‑person network event of 2026, hosted by our brilliant member organisation, Breedon Group and what an exceptional day it was.
From the moment the room filled, the energy, curiosity and willingness to share experiences set the tone for a truly collaborative session. The day opened with an insightful overview of Breedon Group delivered by James Brotherton, Chief Financial Officer, who set the scene with a look into the organisation’s journey. He was joined by Chloe Jones, Head of Accounts Payable, who took us through Breedon’s AP story, a valuable and refreshingly honest view into the realities, challenges and successes of their evolving process landscape.
One of the big talking points of the day was our deep‑dive into Statement Reconciliations and the “art of the possible.” Members explored what good really looks like, how this critical process supports strong financial controls, and how AI, RPA and third‑party support could shape the future of reconciliations in 2026. The discussion sparked thoughtful reflection across organisations and highlighted shared challenges and opportunities within P2P functions.
We were also delighted to welcome FISCAL Technologies as our event sponsor. Chris Reed, Head of Product, delivered a compelling session on connecting reconciliation with fraud controls, governance requirements and emerging regulations such as PPR, PCN and ECCTA. Chris demonstrated how joining up financial operations across the payment lifecycle can strengthen resilience, support CFO priorities and drive meaningful transformation. His insight provided members with practical steps to reduce risk, improve visibility and accelerate their digital journey.
The afternoon then turned to Fraud Prevention, an increasingly critical topic for P2P teams. This interactive discussion highlighted the growing risks organisations are navigating in 2026 and reinforced how process design, technology, strong controls and awareness must work together to safeguard financial operations.
As always, the real strength of the day came from our members, the conversation, openness, shared learning and willingness to dig into the detail. The networking, breakout sessions and cross‑organisation discussions were lively, honest and full of value.
Thank you to James Brotherton and Chloe Jones for opening the day with such a clear, candid view of Breedon Group. The AP journey resonated across the room. The practical detail, the lessons learned, and the way you are lifting capability inside Breedon gave our community something real to take away.
Thank you to Chris Reed and the team at FISCAL Technologies for bringing sharp insight and real‑world examples to the conversation. Connecting reconciliation, fraud controls and evolving regulations into one coherent picture (and turning it into actionable steps) was exactly what our members needed to hear.
Thank you to our amazing Network Leaders, Chloe Jones and Joe Sellwood, we are grateful for the care and craft you put into today. The structure, the flow, the quality of questions, and the space you created for genuine knowledge‑sharing made the difference.
Thank you to Breedon Group for hosting us so thoughtfully. From the welcome, the amazing lunch, hospitality and attention to detail helped everyone settle in and get the most from the day.
And to every member who joined us, thank you for taking the time to join us, contributing, asking the tough questions and sharing openly. The strength of this network is the willingness to compare notes, swap ideas and help each other move faster.
We left with new perspectives, practical next steps and a stronger sense of community. Look forward to seeing you all again this May!!!
