This week, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting our Sustainable Summer Social (SSF) Leaders Event at the enchanting Wellbeing Farm in Lancashire—and what a day it was!
From the moment we arrived, mocktails in hand and the rolling Lancashire countryside as our backdrop, we knew we were in for something special. The sun was shining, the energy was high, and the stage was set for a truly magical experience.
🌟 An Inspirational Start
We were warmly welcomed by Celia Gaze MBE, CEO and Founder of The Wellbeing Farm, who shared her powerful and personal journey. From a stressed NHS manager and new mum in 2013 to the visionary behind a B Corp-certified wellbeing venue, Celia’s story is one of courage, transformation, and purpose. Her passion for sustainability, community, and joy radiates through every corner of the farm—and it was the perfect place to bring our SSF UK leaders together.
🦙 Special Guests & Serious Selfies
Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, our “special guests” arrived—bow tie-wearing llamas, alpacas, and Sandra the sheep! They were a hit, sparking laughter, delight, and of course, a flurry of selfies. It was a brilliant reminder of the joy that comes from connecting with nature (and a few furry friends).
🤝 Building Connection with Team Academy
The ever-energetic Rachel Haslam, Director of Awesomeness at Team Academy, led a dynamic Connection Workshop out in the field. With just a rope and 20 minutes, teams raced to complete a challenge that brought out our competitive spirit, sparked plenty of laughter, and built real bonds.
We then dove into deeper conversations around the four pillars of psychological safety, exploring how we work together and how we can lead with empathy and trust. The session wrapped up with the Johari Window model, and who knew a ball of string could spark such meaningful dialogue?
🧀 A Feast to Remember
After all that connection and collaboration, it was time to refuel—and wow, did we eat well! The grazing table was a masterpiece, overflowing with delicious, locally sourced treats. Sitting in the sunshine, sharing stories and food, was the perfect way to reflect on the morning’s activities.
🙌 A Heartfelt Thank You
To everyone who joined us—thank you. Your energy, openness, and enthusiasm made the day unforgettable. A huge shoutout to Rachel Haslam for her infectious positivity and impactful facilitation, and to Celia and the entire Wellbeing Farm team for your hospitality, attention to detail, and for sharing your magical space with us.
We left feeling inspired, connected, and ready to take what we learned back into our own teams and communities.
