Yesterday we held on fantastic online Leaders event with Leadership Team Performance Coach and Motivational Speaker Jim Lawless entitled "The Ten Rules for Taming Tigers in extreme uncertainty and disruption"
We have all left the comfort zone and are dealing with uncertainty and risk. So the Tiger’s roar has never been louder and our need to manage it in order to perform (and parent) has never more crucial. Let Jim give encouragement, confidence and tools to you and your team with the special version of “Taming Tigers”.
The event was really well attended and started with an introduction from Board Director David Herd and a quick intro video about Jim. Jim began by touching on the current pandemic and how we as Leaders with the changes we are and have had to make will leave a legacy for our peers, our families and everyone around us. He then focused on the positives to enable us to lead and inspire our communities and to deliver.
Jim discussed uncertainty and risk and explained how we were raised to survive. He discussed the PROCESS of accepting and dealing with change, how we can look into the future to make changes and inspire each other to find PURPOSE , helping us to avoid anxiety and fear.
Jim moved on to talk about coaching and a coaching culture. He explained the rules - how we lead during times of uncertainty and how to make sure your team know you are on their side, which in turn builds trust so we can aid our communities and bring their team through the transition of difficulty. Jim shared some ideas/examples on this during the current crisis:
Jim then touched on some of the 10 rules of Taming Tigers and how we can change perception and belief.
ACT BOLDLY - build on skills, build on the future, short term goals, relationships
HEAD IN THE DIRECTION OF WHERE YOU WANT TO ARRIVE - review strategy, adapt, change the approach
MANAGE YOUR MIND - understand the process to find the purpose, using the code going from red to blue
The session finished with some Q&A's to Jim.
Jim will also be running a session on the 20th May - "Resilience: Building Blocks of Peace and Performance in Uncertainty"
There are things we must to do stay mentally, emotionally and physically well - and to perform, lead, parent and recover/rest well - during uncertainty and under stress.
