Online HR & Payroll Network Event - 4th October 2022

Today we held the HR & Payroll Online Network Event online  exploring HR Org Design and Technology Implementations.

It was great to see so many of you online and lots of new faces too. Network Chairs Lisa and Katie facilitated an engaging hot topic session exploring how the HR function continues to evolve and asking the questions:

• Is it through technology, 
• Different ways of working or talent retention
• How are you changing your thinking around org design?
• Are you maintaining a traditional shared services model? 
• Is there such a thing anymore?
• Are you looking to shape your structure based on best practice or current talent?

The second hot topic focused on  Technology implementations. We explored members technology landscape to understand what part their Shared Service Centre plays in the sourcing and implementation of new technology/providers and how as a function we can support the business change needed. 

Questions asked:

• Are you using multiple payroll systems? 
• Do your systems talk to each other, or is there a lot of manual work for Shared Services to transfer information between them?
• Have recent high-profile implementation mishaps in the news made you review your approach to technology? It was a really  interactive session sharing experiences across the group.

Both breakout sessions were extremely interactive and great opportunity to network and make new connections.The first breakout we discussed how members would design/structure their services differently than their current operations. The second breakout enabled members to share their hints, tips and lessons learnt on their tech transitions & implementations. 

Stephen Penniston, Head of Workforce Management at Sodexo shared a fantastic member contribution discussing Sodexo's recent project on Time & Attendance systems.
