Hello everyone,
Well, we are all very excited to start promoting our SSF UK 2018 Annual Conference. Our social media team, Kerry and Sarah and our Events Manager, Jay have started the ball rolling. If you are not already following us on Linkedin or Twitter, please connect with us. I know they have some great posts in store and you'll be able to keep up to date with our progress as it happens. This year, we are really striving for the art of the possible!
This has been our strapline all year, but what does this mean and in particular what does it mean to you, as an individual and your organisation?
The phrase originated in politics...
Politics is the art of the possible", which means, "It's not about what's right or what's best. It's about what you can actually get done". It's associated with Realpolitik, a political philosophy of setting pragmatism over your ideological goals.
Whilst doing a bit of research, I came across the following articles which made interesting and relevant reading for our running theme this year, take a look...
Digital transformation - Embracing the art of the possible
Forbes: The art of the possible
We will be launching our new Digital Network at conference and this will give us all the scope and opportunity to explore the art of the possible, what's in our reach, what worked, what didn't, what do we actually want and how do we make it happen? This network will give our membership community the chance to find out what's out there, debate the pros and cons and learn from each other's experiences. I'll be in touch with everyone soon who put their name forward and collate your presentations.
In case you are wondering what's happened to some of the September network events, all will be revealed soon as we have something very special in store. Our Network Chairs will be in touch with you all and explain what's going on. It's something we have never done before and certainly fits in with our theme as we strive for the art of the possible here at SSF UK.
From an individual perspective, I can only speak for myself. I took a huge leap of faith last year when I left my comfort zone and delved into the unknown. A Credit Manager for many years, I'd reached the pinnacle of my career, there was really nowhere else to go...I took the plunge and embraced the art of the possible...I have never looked back!
Believe in yourself, follow your dreams and always believe something wonderful will happen, it usually does!
Have a great week everyone.
Sharon
