Yesterday we welcomed members to member organisation The Guinness Partnership in Oldham for the HR & Payroll network event. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with like minded professionals who are on similar journeys, exchanging best practices, openly discussing challenges and exploring what lies ahead in the dynamic world of HR and payroll
We kicked off in the morning with interactive breakout sessions asking the questions:
- What is your Shared Service format
- What are your key technology platforms
- What are your top 3 pain points within your organisation
The buzz in the room was brilliant and members shared some realy helpful conversations about technology, automation and AI as well as getting to know each other, making new connections and networking.
Next on the agenda was Gary Waites, HR Services Manager and Toni Dalgleish, Head of HR Services sharing the recent HR & Payroll implementation at Guinness with Oracle. It was an insightful and honest sharing of the business rationale to want to implement, the journey to adopt and the lesson learnt.
To complement the member contribution we welcomed Dan Balshaw, HR Transformation Director at Oracle who shared some insights into how connecting and simplifying HR processes for talent, workforce management, employee experience, and payroll can foster an inclusive workplace culture where our people can feel like they belong.
After a delightful networking lunch we had a legal 'horizon scanning' update from Jo Houseman, Head of Employment Legal at Bupa UK covering new legislation and what is in the pipeline over the next few years that we need to be thinking about now for both HR and Payroll.
The day ended with a chance to breakout into small groups again to reflect on the sessions, learnings and put our plans into action on what we want to take away and put into practice.
Huge thank you to everyone that attended the event, it was great to catch up with old faces and also meet some new members too. Thank you also to our Network Co-Chairs Jessica Ritchie and Katie Duxbury and to Gary Waites and The Guinness Partnership for hosting, sharing your journey and looking after us.
The next event will take place online on September 17th and we look forward to sharing details on the agenda in the coming months.
