Hi I am Meg the Member Relations Manager for SSF UK.
What do I love about the Shared Services Forum?
I love understanding where all our members are on their Shared Services journey. No one of our members is the same or in the same place in terms of technology, service scope or customer base and everyone has so much knowledge and experience to share. I love the community that has been built over the last 10 years within our organisation. We have had members working together to share knowledge of particular processes or technology; many site visits from the Coronation Street set to the IMAX cinema and different offices in-between. And the skills and experience that have been shared and built upon are incredible.
I am looking forward to learning more about each of our members this year in order to help them get the most out of their membership. I want to know which systems our members use, what are their pain points for 2020 and also where they can help and support other members going through the same issues. This will help us to collaborate better and provide the most value to our members.
I love learning about the latest developments in RPA and AI and increasing my knowledge of the sector. I also really love all our keynote speakers; we were so lucky to get some extremely inspiring and motivating speakers at our 2019 conference and I really enjoyed listening to them speak.
Where was I 10 years ago?
10 years ago I was starting my career in Shared Services at SPX Flow in Didsbury. I was in the first 10 employees of the centre and helped with the move into our office space, building our employee base and embedding the culture within the SSC. I moved into HR projects and spent 5 weeks in Germany process mapping the end to end HR processes (an incredible experience!). I then moved to work for The Co-operative Group again in HR projects working on the Unity project. My next move was to Marks & Spencer’s HR SSC in a HR Change role through the implementation of the HR self-service system out to stores.
I set up my own business in 2017 as a Virtual Assistant and worked again for SPX Flow and SSF UK as a contractor. Never far from the world of shared services!
I have also got married and had 2 wonderful children in the past 10 years – so have fit quite a bit in!
Where do I see myself in the next 10 years?
I would love to still be in the Shared Services sector. I have been repeatedly drawn back into the sector over the past 10 years so can’t see the next 10 years changing too much! I love that shared services seems to be becoming more flexible in its approach to work, which really helps with work life balance and the juggle of family life with a fulfilling career.
