Following our session this morning on mentoring from the team at Edit Development, we bring you details on Girls Out Loud, a social enterprise supported by Loretta Smith from Pladis.
"I volunteer for a social
enterprise called Girls Out Loud. I take part in a number of initatives the
enterprise offers including a 12 month mentoring programme, whereby the enterprise
works with high schools in the North West. The aim is simple, match a
successful female Mentor with a girl on a programme to help them find their
voice, be amazing and build confidence to enable them to become whatever they
want to become. The target group is girls aged 12-15, who are not high flyers
and not obtaining other support, they are girls in the middle, often forgotten.
I mentor 2 girls currently for 1 hour a month. I have also taken part in
another event called the role model relay.
The programme is so rewarding for professionals seeing the 'little sisters' grow and become more confident, its such a worthwhile programme"
